Memory leaks in Firefox
Redrawing links creates memory leaks in Firefox. In #f72c4765 we disabled automatic redrawing, by disabling the simulation. This limits the visual experience and still creates leaks when the user drags nodes. This needs further investigation.

The fix introduced in #f72c4765 caused another bug which leads to edges not being drawn in the correct places after toggling their visibility.

Reverted the temporary fix. The memory leaks are caused by rapidly updating the positions of the edges during the force simulation. The force simulation gets reheated every time a node gets dragged, which happens quite often, as node clicks are often registered as small drag events.
I still cannot figure out the underlying problem, so we basically have two options:
- Disable the force simulation globally
- Disable the force simulation for FF users only.
For now i would try the second option.
