This patch implements the Linux's timerfd_*() system calls, declared in <sys/timerfd.h>. These define a file descriptor, usable for read() or poll() and friends, which becomes readable when a timer expires. This aspires to be a full implementation of timerfd, with all the intricate details explained in timerfd_create(2). timerfd was added to Linux five years ago (Linux 2.6.25). Boost's asio, in particular, uses this feature if it thinks it is available. Fixes #129. Signed-off-by:

Our sched::thread makes it rather difficult to create threads with non-default attributes. This patch makes it easier to create a thread with a non-default stack size, e.g., a light thread with a one-page stack: sched::thread a([&] { func(); }, sched::thread::attr(4096)) We should probably overhaul the sched::thread constructors at some point to make it easier to specify options, but for now, this specific constructor is convenient for my uses. In commit 870d8410, Avi fixed a bug where if a timer_base::timer_fired() function re-sets the same timer that fired, timer_list::fired() erroneously removed the timer from the list after the timer being re-set. The fix in that commit was to avoid removing the timer from the timer_list if the timer is still armed after the call to timer_fired(). Unfortunatley, that commit didn't quite make timer re-set work. When I tried now to use timer.set() in timer_base::timer_fired(), for implementing timerfd, I discovered it still doesn't work: the set() tries to add the timer to the timer_list while it is still on it, resulting in assertion failure. The right thing to do is to first remove the fired timer from the list, and only then call timer_fired(). If timer_fired() wants to set the timer again, it can - but anyway, it will always set the timer with a different time, so the timer will anyway occupy a different position in the sorted list, so the right thing is always to remove the timer from the list and then add it to the right place if we want. I'm curious, by the way, what commit 870d8410 actually solved, and if we could check this fix doesn't ruin it. All tests appear to still pass with this patch (and also the new timerfd test). In some cases netperf relies on SIGALRM to wake sleeping send*/recv*() calls. alarm() API on OSv doesn't fully comply to specification, i.e. it executes SIGALRM handler but doesn't interrupt sleeping syscalls. Because of this there is a race condition that makes netserver sleep infinitely in some cases. This commit introduces patch for netperf that acts as a work-around for this problem by setting socket timeout for network operations. This commit also introduces simple script that builds patched netperf in automated manner. Signed-off-by:
